Thank heaven there are other organizations that truly want to help the consumer.
USING YOUR BABY FOR PROFIT
In doing research for this site I went to google and typed in consumer advocates. There were 132,000,000 hits. I randomly selected several sites and went directly to their privacy policy. Checking the privacy policy on a "business" will give the consumer an indepth idea of that particular business's ethics and how they interface with the customer, a method that I would strongly urge you to do Prior to doing business with them. Sadly there are unscrupulous individuals who are in "business" just to make a buck even in the advocacy arena.
In August of 2007, I heard Dr. Michael Jacobson who represents CSPI (Center for Science in the Public Interest ) being interviewed on the "Colbert report" . The information he is trying to convey to the consumer is important and runs somewhat parrallell to this site their focus "nutrition" ours identifying deception in the advertisements.
Prior to contacting Dr. Jacobson I went directly to CSPI's Privacy policy. If you have read the privacy policies of" yellow pages an open book", "Blockbuster", "$6.15 gift card" " Huh?" or any of the other "privacy policy's, on this site, you are aware that a great percent of privacy policy terms and conditions are designed to contol the consumer. I was utterly overjoyed with what I read when I clicked on CSPI's privacy policy.
It is 5 SENTENCES in length. (Compare that with the above mentioned articles on this site: see index for location) The most impressive and comforting words you will ever find are in the second sentence on CSPI's site. " WE COLLECT NO INFORMATION ON CONSUMERS WHO BROWSE OUR WEB PAGE. HOW REFRESHING.
CSPI has been in existance for 36 years. They are a national consumer orginazation who works for the public interest.
They have been in operaton since 1977 and have an outstanding record.
As the pages in this catagory (food) deal with deceptive advertising in the food business and the fact that this site is a "RAD" site,
I feel it is imperative to include CSPI's web site knowing that it will be of great interest to Mothers who have infants and toddlers..
Their web site is www.cspinet.org
The article under discussion is http://www.cspinet.org/new/cspi.html
