Introduction

 This site is for the casual surfer or anyone who is interested in obtaining a little more knowledge about how some scams work and how to avoid pit falls. When I started this site I was super, super serious about being ripped off and taken to the cleaners. My thinking was that everyone was out to get me. NOT SO. THere are a lot of great companies out there. Just so happens that the line of work that I have been doing for the past 25+ years has turned me paranoid This site is about consumers being scammed , ripped off, conned., taken to the cleaners, abused and most importantly being "CONTROLLED" This site is still in it's infancy and is a work in progress so if you enter you may get a little lost but stay with me, I will get it right. If you want to add your opinions and suggestion please do so..I could use the help. 

Every once and in a while someone would read the information on this site, drop me a line and I would do my best to answer their question, mostly from my personal experience. I am not a psychologost or financial advisor. I am a Forensic Document Examiner and a certified Statement Analyst and have been associated with scams and deception for my entire professional career.  A couple of years ago I realized that the statement obtained form a suspect and pr an advertisement could be analyzed in exactly the same way.

In the process of developing this site, alot of questions were asked on "how to" and "what should I do". Most  of the questions pertained directly to money, shady tactics of certain businesses and of course Identity theft.  After answering a bunch of questions I realized that I was actually having FUN sharing information. Instead of doom and gloom, I realised how this subject matter related to saving money as well as heart ache by identifying "cons" in advertising.

This site is meant to be educational. I know that most consumers know they are being taken advantage of and this information just sheds a little more light on the "how's".  Basically what I have done is translate some of the "legalese" that is found in advertising and put it in a way that is easy to understand. It is MY interpretation. What people say is not what they mean and what they mean is not what you heard (or read) Here are some examples of how the language is distorted. The following thumb has 12 examples of "mis-understanding.  Each slide will appear for 4 seconds.  In advertising this "misunderstanding is intentional. Most consumers don't know the difference between an APR or an APY,and many financial instutions count on this.   Financial terminolgy is used to really bamboozle the client/customer. APR means annual percentage rate and APY means annual percentage yeild. Remember this, an AP(R) INTEREST RATE  is the rate that you will REPAY  the lender. This includes all fees and point etc. The AP(Y) is what (Y)OU are paid as in an interest bearing checking account. Just remember apR=retuned to bank/lender and apY=what you will be paid from them. If you weren't aware of this, the next time you see the APR listed with the APY you will notice that the APR is always much larger.

This site will give you sufficient information that will help  protect yourself from Identity Theft as well as learning how to read between the lines and identify when an ad leans toward the deceptive side. You will be amazed at how obvious it really is. There is a CD that is in the process of being completed. It contains all the information that is needed to analyze any ad or verbal communication. It will be available By Jan 1st 2008. There will be no cost for the CD to members. Membership will be $19. Non members can purchase the CD for $40

Why membership? One word..Lawyers. I don't have the capital to pay for what is being attempted. This site has no advertising for three reasons. (1) I am attacking their bread and butter. (2) I am attacking their bread and butter. (3) I am attacking their bread and butter.  Twenty year ago, I could understand how the consumer let criminal acts as portrayed on this to slide. Today as "connected" as the world is there is no excuse for allowing this to continue,  no excuse at all. "Nuff said"

This site is meant to be interactive.   We both have the opportunity not only to learn from each other but to participate in creating a unique media. We, consumers are losing control rapidly. All you need to do is click "controf F for the find function and read "horror stories". This will give an idea of where we are heading, no make that where we are at NOW. I need viewer input. Ideas, thoughts, suggestions. I really would like to hear from viewers to this site. Of primary consern is how the banking/finance companies are  sticking it to the public. (read horror stories. If you have one let me know about it).  I feel that financial instutitions are ais a good place to start a movement of some kind , any kind, at least to our political representatives. I can't do it by myself.

We live in the "information age". YOUR information is worth it's weight in gold and a lot of businesses go to great lengths to get it. (Read "dangerous receipt and let someone else know about it)  Knowledge is power and information can be destructive if it falls into the wrong hands .  The more  information someone can get on the "victim" " the easier it is to be sudessful in stealing your identity. Your first lesson-Most internet sites covertly have the "viewer waive ALL of their rights". (see "Yellow pages an open book" on this site.)

This site does not claim that all corporate entities are crooked. There are many decent business's who strive to make decent products and have decent services. In our attempts to reveal deceptive tactics we use actual deceptive advertisements.

There are links to other sites pertaining to the article being read in order for the consumer to justify a point or use for reference.If we recommend any other site feel assured it has been checked out. However when you click on a link to visit other sites, you do so of your own volition.

A little more about the CD. The CD content interfaces with this site. There are thumbnails you can click for additonal information. This ad is deceptive    "This is a blatant LIE!"("see weight loss in index")  Although this is obvious to many people, this company  prey"s on the uninformed, the desperate.   Many deceptive ad's are not quite as obvious, hence this site was created.There are references to "your training CD". on almost every page. The training CD is formulated from 30 years of training Law Enforcement personnel to identify deception, criminals, thives, and con artists. The CD  is not based on theory. Everything  presented is practical information that has been learned and proven effective.  The  information and content of the CD will be justified by you, the viewer. 

There are no corporate advertising's of any sort on this site. This is a critical point due to the fact that  99.9% of all site s have ads and links.  Many are Good sites.  However many are deceptive. Either the site owners are inadvertantly ignorant or have a web site to make a few quick bucks selling your information.  A simple reading of  Sneak Wrap (see index) on this site will demonstrate how important it is NOT to give out your information.

BUYER SCAMS. COM  is a non profit orginazation..with a goal.

The majority of Information on this site is free to all consumers.  Questions are welcomed and encouraged from the gereral public.

As of 8-25-07 this site is not yet set up to accept membership  and the system should be  perfected as of 10 31 07 . The site is somewhat disorganized.
